This book is notable for the introduction of Marcel Brissac, of the Surete and Biggles’ French counterpart. He would become a frequent recurring character in later books. He moved to Yorkshire and was then posted to France and while on a bombing raid to Mannheim his plane was shot down and he was wounded.
