Warfighter Garrison Oscuro Maduro Toro

Tonight I smoked the warfighter 50. Cal. As my 7th cigar of the day, and here’s what I thought. First off, I’m a big fan of oscuro, Maduro and ligero wrappers, I enjoy the darker side of cigars and this stick disappointed me. The very dark wrapper is deceptive as all get out. This was my first war fighter 50, and I had big expectations brought on by the name and the color of this thing, mainly because I was looking for a kick your a** cigar but right off the bat it gave off a sweetness that I though was odd and out of place. As I got into it a bit I got some leather and woody notes but mostly a dark chocolate milkshake flavor. It was buttery and left an after taste of sweet low cocoa espresso, and something that tastes like a sugary molasses and oatmeal. Totally didn’t expect this flavor profile. It did toss up some spices and pepper later, but it was more of a back ground after thought as the sweet chocolate seemed to kinda take center stage. It got a little earthy moving to the end of the first third and picked up a sweet coffee bean note with some, maybe oak, notes. It did have a loose draw. Did not hold it’s ash well however, and the burn needed some correcting down the whole stick. At this point I’m asking myself where’s the nicotine, where’s my strength and full body at. It’s like someone had wrapped this dark wrapper around another low strength light colored Macanudo as a joke. It did give me some strength and body in the final third but not as much as I like or expected. I’d most likely pass on smoking another one of these. My score, 80 points, best I can do for it. It wasn’t bad, (like the dumpster fire) just not my thing. I guess it’s safe to say, I’m not impressed with the war fighter brand altogether it reminds me too much of Gurkha (more money in the band, than the blend)
