I rate this cigar at 96. My #1 so far. I believe this is the perfect cigar with some age. First Third white pepper, dark chocolate, with undertones of earth, leather, nuts, espresso and sweetness. Second third sweetness, dark fruit black pepper, with undertones of earth floral and cocoa. Final third black pepper dark chocolate, and brown sugar with undertones of molasses and earth. Will mellow with some age. Cigar Afficionado #2 2023 with a rating of 96. Padrón’s 75th birthday. In 2016, Padrón released the No. 48 size to celebrate the 48th anniversary of the Tobacconists’ Association of America. One might expect the thick 60 ring gauge to result in some dilution of the blend, but that didn’t happen. With its rich smoke of cocoa, almond, honey and cinnamon, the No. 48 is proof that Padrón could successfully scale up the blend and preserve all the desirable qualities that make the Serie 1926 so distinct. Cigar Review: Padron 1926 Maduro No. 6 Country of Origin: Nicaragua Factory: Fabricas de Padron Wrapper: Nicaragua Binder: Nicaragua Filler: Nicaragua Length: 4.75 Inches Ring Gauge: 50 FRIST THIRD Took a little more time to light up due to its firm and even pack at the foot. Once lit rich notes of aged dark tobacco and white pepper begin to make their first appearances. After the first few draws, the smoke begins to mellow out slightly to bring forth more complexity. The initial draw offers a burst of dark chocolate, espresso, and a subtle hint of earthiness. As you progress through the first third, notes of leather and toasted nuts emerge SECOND THIRD Takes on a smoother mouthfeel. The wrapper seems to have become sweeter while notes of dark fruit and black pepper hang around on my palate. There’s also a solid backing of earthy notes that add complexity to the smoke. The flavors intensify, with a delightful spiciness that tingles the palate without overwhelming it. The draw remains smooth and consistent. FINAL THIRD The peppery notes that were present for most of the experience have almost completely faded. Notes of molasses and brown sugar become more apparent as the cigar burns down. The chocolate and espresso notes return with a renewed vigor, joined by a pleasant sweetness that lingers on the lips. The finish is long.
